Bundesform or the Federal Form Chess Pieces emerged as alternative to the widely used staunton chess pieces in the 1930's in Germany.
They became popular for use in Munich Chess Olympics of 1936 and subsequently found their use in chess tournaments.
They were particularly appreciated for their simple design, durability and affordability.
This design will find great favour amongst chess players and collectors for their distinct appearance and playability.
