I reviewed all of the modern chess sets before choosing this one because it seemed to be the most faithful to the original Bauhaus design. The quality of the wood, the craftsmanship and finishes are superb. The pieces were individually wrapped in foam and very securely packed inside a cardboard box. It was shipped from Amritsar and the pieces would have survived unscathed even if they had simply dropped the box from the airplane. As an architect who collected Bauhaus furniture, I am highly satisfied with the product, especially for the price.
My mother gifted me a little onyx chess set from Mexico in 1965. I lost a few of the pieces but I really loved the little wooden box that held them. The Reproduced 1923 Bauhaus Chess Set with 2" King fit the bill. It was made with uncompromised skill and mimiced the shape of the old set. I had to have it.
