I paired the 3.9" Craftsman Series Staunton Chess Pieces in ebony (double weighted) with the 1950’s Dubrovnik folding chess board in golden rosewood and maple (57 mm squares) and the combination is excellent.
The Craftsman pieces feel premium right out of the box. The ebony has a deep, rich black finish and the pieces are beautifully turned with a classic Staunton profile. The double weighting gives them a solid, balanced feel when moving them across the board. The knights are especially well carved and give the set a refined character without being overly ornate.
The Dubrovnik-style board complements the pieces perfectly. The golden rosewood and maple squares provide great contrast, making the ebony pieces stand out clearly. The 57 mm squares are a very comfortable fit for the 3.9" king—there’s plenty of space without the board feeling oversized. The folding design with internal storage is also convenient for keeping everything organized.

Took about a week from order date to get them to GA. The pieces were packaged very well. Individually wrapped with cushioned foam and all of them were in excellent condition. The weight is great, the finish is perfect, and the knights look very similar for being hand carved. Well worth the money. Very happy with purchase, I expect the pieces to last a very long time. The board in photo is 2.25" squares and I think the size of the pieces are perfect for the board.

The quality of the pieces is fantastic for a very reasonable price. I purchased the pieces mainly because I really like the "Sinquefield-style" knights which look absolutely beautiful. The items fully matched the description and absolutely matched my expectations. All pieces were wrapped very carefully to avoid damage during transport.
Like the weight, colour and design. Smoothness of the wood. Not sure which kind of box wood is used? I went for the ebony not the ebonised due to color, and mainly wearability. Am very happy so far. Which kind of boxwood used though, as there are several woods that can be used and named boxwood?
