Experience the timeless elegance of the Dubrovnik Chess Set, originally crafted in the fifties and sixties by the renowned master carver Jakopović. This reproduction set, made from Bud Rosewood and Boxwood, faithfully brings to life the pieces that Bobby Fischer proclaimed as his favorite. Fischer, a legendary chess grandmaster, once stated, "I think it's the best chess set I've ever played on. It's just a joy to play with, a joy to hold, the definition of the pieces, the design… it's just a marvelous set, but it's very hard to get, I don't have it."
Obtaining an original Jakopović set is nearly impossible, with prices for playworthy sets reaching hundreds of thousands of dollars, if not more.
Our precise reproduction captures the essence of the original Dubrovnik set, featuring a 3.8" King and enhanced with increased ballast at the base. The set maintains the iconic fat, chunky bases and solid, well-proportioned design, making it a crown jewel for any chess player or collector. Enjoy the beauty and craftsmanship of the Dubrovnik Chess Set, a masterpiece reborn for modern enthusiasts.
