These sets were quite popular in 1960's due to their sturdy design. They conform to the staunton proportions and have no sharp , protruding edges making them a pleasure to hold and play with. Durable in their construction, they are designed to withstand the rigours of practical play.

French Lardy Done Right!

You can look everywhere and you won't find a better French Lardy set of chessmen than these and the set sold here in Walnut Stain.
In particular, the knights (see photo) are EXACTLY right - other sets you find have imposter knights, ranging from 'not quite right' to 'absolutely ridiculous'.
I am now the owner of BOTH sets, so no need for me to waste time looking at those other wannabe

I love my new and Improved Lardy Chess Set from Royal Chess Mall. It takes me back to my early chess trnmt days in the early 70s.
