This design has beautiful unique profiling with rounded bases, distinct curvature common throughout the army from king to the pawn.

Painstakingly Hand carved by our master carvers, this design is sure to please even the most discerning collectors.

These chessmen have broad bases with balanced weighting using a combination of iron and lead studs making them a pleasure to hold and play with.

This set is exactly what I was looking for. I like reproduction sets for the history, but I already have many antiqued sets made to look older. This set, with its beautiful red and white gleaming lacquer, looks so amazing on my blackwood/curly maple board. The photos on the website don't do justice to their shiny finish. They are also larger than you might expect, nicely sitting on a 2 1/4 in squares board. They are well weighted and feel wonderful in the hand and over the board. This set had been out of stock for quite a while, and when I received the email notification that it was back in stock I didn't hesitate. I am very pleased to have this fine set in my collection.
