It is good to own a very well crafted replica of the 1849 original Staunton design.
These pieces exude class, superbly carved with attention to detail, sturdy and well weighted, but nevertheless move easily on the board. The antique effect helps capture the essence of Staunton pieces of the mid-19th century, but be aware that it is very dark, darker than it appears in the video, and that could be an issue if you prefer lighter pieces. I personally do, but it wasn't a deal breaker. Also, they are BIG, and if you're not used to big pieces, that might take a bit of getting used to.
As is standard with RCM the pieces arrived within a week of ordering, each one safely wrapped in a virtually indestructible box. RCM's customer care is excellent and you can deal with them with confidence.
