3.6" Herman Ohme Minimalist Combo Chess Set- Chess Piece with Board - Golden Rosewood

- Elegant and beautiful. True to the website photos and description.
- The pieces and board are very well made. No flaws, scratches or dents. They pieces stand perfectly upright with no tilting or rocking.
- The corners of the board squares all line up perfectly.
- The matte finish on the pieces is perfectly applied with no imperfections or variations in shading.
- The finish on the board is glossier than I anticipated but it is perfectly applied and the glossy finish shows off the beauty of the board and pieces.
- Fast standard shipping. The shipment arrived in seven days. It was fun to watch the daily progress of the shipment through New Delhi, Paris and Memphis and even the clearing through customs.
- The pieces and board were packed with care and had ample protective wrapping.
- Super-pleased. Highly recommended.

I'm very glad I bought this set. It's so beautiful - even my grumpy teenage son said "that's a really nice chess set" when he saw it. The design is clean and modern (much nicer than a Staunton) and the pieces are large and well made (the only workmanship issue is slight asymmetries in the knights' tiny heads, but this is barely noticeable). The set feels really nice in the hand, particularly the pawns which have a nice bottom-heavy swing when you move them. It's so pretty that it's now on permanent display on my kitchen peninsula, where everyone can see it.

The size is nice - the pieces are tall (nearly 10cm kings) and the board is thick, broad and quite heavy. The workmanship on the board also seems good. The squares don't have frame around them, so I thought the board might have a bit of flex and was worried about its durability, but it feels good and sturdy and it has a high finish - I can only feel a very faint join between a few of the squares (otherwise the edges are perfectly smooth).

Overall, I love it. It's nice to play with, seems well built and is very, very pretty. 5/5

I am very happy with the chess set I have received from Royal Chess Mall. The board is beautiful and so are the pieces. It is not absolutely perfect - and I did not expect it to be, as it is hand-crafted from real wood. So, if you extensively examine the board and each piece, you will find what you might call some small flaws, tiny knots in the wood, or perhaps one or two pieces that are a slightly different shade to the others, but nothing that would detract from the overall enjoyment of admiring and using the set. And I think the price is very fair for what you get, with the 20% discount I was able to secure (just write to them and ask). Free shipping too. So, all in all, highly recommended. I am already tempted to buy a second set of a different design, although I absolutely do not need it and don't have the space for it! Mhm, maybe as a birthday present for my godson...

Beautiful

I am totally thrilled with this chess set which I asked for as my main Xmas present. The quality of the set and board is fantastic and the packaging was also top notch. Would highly recommend this seller. The set is taking pride of place in my lounge. It is a beautiful piece of modern art as well as my favourite game.

Very quick shipping. Looks great and feels like a quality piece. Thank you!

Excellent

Everything came packed extremely well. Both the pieces and the board are without flaws.

Thanks for the beautiful chess set. The delivery was very fast and the set is really well made.

high quality craftsmanship, Love it

Received this chess set last week. I can say this set is even more impressive in person. The seller is also super helpful and friendly! Would definitely recommend this product and the seller!!

We are delighted with our order from Royal Chess Mall. My partner and I bought this set as our joint christmas present (from us to us), as we wanted to start playing chess together with an actual chess set, not through an app. It is a completely different experience to see the physical board in front of us and look at each other when playing, not at our screens. The chess board and pieces are impeccable! Crafted with great attention to detail and to a flawless standard. The pieces feel beautifully heavy, with the darker pieces a little heavier than the lighter (different type of wood used so it is to be expected). This somewhat evens out the disadvantages of moving second against the pleasure of playing with the 'nicer' (i.e. heavier) rosewood set. The chess set came with an extra set of Queens (one from each side) which is greatly appreciated as this is the most likely piece to be traded for a pawn at the end of the board (except for the rare instance where you might want a knight instead). The only negative about our shopping experience has been the slight wait for this chess set to be back in stock as it was sold out for a while. However, having received our set, we completely understand the high demand.
