I bought this burgundy case to go with the burnt American Stauton chess pieces. I couldn't be happier. Again, excellent work...and craftsmanship from RCM. Two thumbs WAY up. 👍👍.

The materials and construction quality are decent, but given the not exactly cheap cost I feel I need to make some notes.
In particular, one thing that compromises its use is the absence of any retention material between the lid/base of the upper drawer and the housing of the chessmen, this means that (with the 4.4" Goliath Series Luxury Staunton, therefore not exactly chess pieces small) by grabbing the case by its handle, the pieces come out of the slots, distributing themselves in a haphazard manner and banging into each other, defeating the purpose for which the case was designed, for which it is necessary to insert bubble wrap or other cloths.
It would have been enough to apply a soft padding of one or two centimeters on the lid and on the base of the first drawer to avoid the problem (I understand that it is not your core business, but it seems strange to me that something so obvious should have escaped you).
Then there would be the four risers on which the upper drawer rests which are only partially covered and whose fixing is precarious to say the least. Finally, given the not excellent quality and sturdiness of the materials, metal protections (equipped with feet) on the corners to protect the drawer would not have hurt, when the drawer are placed on any surface other than a table or carpet.
