Imperfect Chess Sets may have slight repairs carried out in the pieces and minute color mismatch may be observed.

Otherwise, they are of high quality like any of our typical chess sets of the same range and are in proper playable/ usable condition.

1933 Botvinnik Flohr-I Soviet Chess Pieces  in 3.6" king size are a precise reproduction of the widely popular BF-I series chessmen which rose to fame due to the famous chess match between Mikhail Botvinnik and Salo Flohr.

Botvinnik Flohr series are quite popular amongst chess collectors and enthusiasts which had 2 variations which featured in Moscow Chess Tournaments of 1933 and 1935.

BF-I is a reproduction of the famous chess match of 1933.

These chessmen feature a distinct design profile which is typical of soviet chessmen. They have broad bases with very lean shanks, making for a distinct yet elegant appearance.

The chessmen play well on the chessboard with weight added at the base to increase its stability.

Knights are unlike anything other design, our carvers have worked on. They have a laughing profile with a unique curvature to the body.

They make for a unique gift for a chess enthusiast or a beautiful additional to your chess collection.

Slightly Imperfect 1933 Botvinnik Flohr-I Soviet Chess Set

Having recently received this beautiful replica it has have become one of my favorite sets for playing, for not only is it made with diligence and attention to detail it is also very playable. Despite being sold as "slightly imperfect" I find it of excellent quality and finish...personally I even wonder if it is not, in fact, of a higher production quality than the originals were :) I say that as I have many (amazing) original 1930s Soviet chess sets, and almost invariably they are "imperfect" in the eye of today :)

Beautiful

I'm puzzled as to why these are considered imperfect! They are very high quality and a joy to look at.
