Hello
Thank you for reaching out to us.
Our team will connect with you shortly.
Is this design tournament-approved?
While Staunton is the official standard for tournaments, this Northern Upright style is more of a collector’s and enthusiast’s set — admired for its historical value rather than modern competition play.
Will the ebony wood lose its shine or fade over time?
No — ebony naturally retains its deep black luster and, with minimal care, this set will age beautifully, developing a richer patina over the years.
What type of chessboard pairs best with this set?
A board with 2.0″–2.25″ (50–57 mm) squares is recommended to complement the 4″ King and maintain correct proportions.
Is this set handmade or machine-made?
Each piece is individually hand-carved and polished by artisans, ensuring no two sets are exactly alike. Inface, all of our products are handcrafted.
Are these pieces weighted and of high quality?
Yes — each piece is hand-turned and carved by skilled craftsmen, made with ebony (dark) and boxwood (light), with solid weight and felted bases for stability.
