3.3" St. John Pre-Staunton Calvert Chess Set- Chess Pieces Only - Ebony Wood & Antique

$244.000 CLP Regular price
John Calvert was of the most prominent chess carvers in England in the Pre-Staunton Era. (Circa 18th century)

Our Calvert Chess Pieces are a precise reproduction of one of the iconic designs from John Calvert.

The quality of craftsmanship on these chessmen is quite extraordinary, something which only an expert carver with years of experience can achieve.

Each piece is lovingly hand-carved and hand-turned by experienced master artisans with years of experience crafting luxury chess pieces.

They have then been artificially aged to give effect of vintage patina on the chessmen. Double Weighted with Lead studs, these chessmen have substantial ballast to them to ensure great stability on the chessboard.

They are heirloom quality chessmen which will last for many decades to come.

Piece of art, jewelry work.
A design that surpasses all other examples of St. John Pre-Staunton Calvert that I have seen online. An amazing modern interpretation, where the boxwood and ebony are incredibly fitting. I tested the ebony, it's real. Price for quality and value needs no comment.
Take moer than an hour (I 'm not joking) to enjoy the figures on the first day. And for the second day, take your time also.
