I had been looking for an upgraded chess set that included bud rosewood pieces. I was also looking for a set that would work with well with my 16" premier travel chess set that I had previously purchased from RCM. I like smaller boards. Smaller bud rosewood pieces are not so easy to find. However, this set works perfectly well with the 1.73" squares of the board. The pieces are beautifully crafted. They were expertly packaged with no flaws. They look just as good as many of the sets sold on competitors sites at much higher prices. It should be noted that this set of pieces will not fit properly into the foam cutouts of the 16" travel board. I knew this would be the case. No problem, I'll just use a separate box. I could not be happier with this purchase.
Despite being on the smaller side, they have a very good weight to them and don't feel unstable. Very beautifully crafted and the colour is stunning. This smaller set fits well on the 19" matching bud rosewood board. They give you spare queens for pawn promotion. Very happy.
What a gorgeous set of pieces. I really don’t have much more to say. And of course the knight is the star of the show. I was apprehensive due to the small size, but couldn’t be happier now. They look and feel perfect on my 2” square board. Thank you Royal Chess Mall for making these wonderful pieces!
