El juego Dubrovnik original se fabricó en los años cincuenta y sesenta en el taller del renombrado maestro tallista Jakopović. Estas son las piezas con las que Bobby Fischer proclamó su favorito, este es el juego de ajedrez con el que podemos verle analizar en varios documentales y fotografías. Creo que es el mejor juego de ajedrez con el que he jugado nunca. Es un placer jugar con él, un placer sostenerlo, la definición de las piezas, el diseño, ... es un juego maravilloso, pero es muy difícil de conseguir, yo no lo tengo".
