The Tal Set is a reproduction of the famous chess set used in Soviet chess Championships in the 1960's.
This chess set has been a fruit of hard work done by our best artisans over 2 and a half months after we were given this design as a project by a chess piece collector
Tal set is a collectors' edition and a dream chess set for your chess collection or professional play. Serious chess players and collectors can recognize this set from the book - The Life and Games of Mikhail Tal.

Feb. 4, 2021 The 1960's Soviet Championship Tal chess pieces arrived today after only one week to the day and I couldn't be happier! I especially like the flared tops of the rooks and the large, distinctive knights - unmistakably Tal era! Also of note are the pawns which are practicably impossible to tip over because of their wide, high bases. Of course the remaining pieces are great as well and anyone wishing to buy a ""Tal"" set should give this one a serious look - it's attractive and reasonably priced!
Beautiful pieces! Im a huge fan of Soviet style and era chess pieces and this set fits my collection perfectly!
Simply stunning. The pawns could be described as 'chunky' (see the pictures) but I like them.
Delivery to Canada was very fast, despite the pandemic. Less than two weeks. I am extremely satisfied with the chess pieces. They are beautiful, well carved, solid and stable. It is a real pleasure to play with them. I wanted beautiful, quality chess pieces that I wouldn't be afraid to play with and study with. Personally, I would be too afraid to drop or break a piece from a competitor's $ 500-1000 chess set. If you want amazing chess pieces at an amazing price, you've come to the right place. I am more than satisfied with the price, the service and the quality of the product. I will buy again and recommend.
An exceptional set, with perfect manufacturing, a concern for fairness and balance between all the remarkable pieces, which gives the set an image of perfect simplicity so typical of many Soviet sets.Being a connoisseur and collector of Soviet chess pieces, I can say that a reproduction of chess pieces of this quality has rarely appeared on the market, careful in wood carving, in the aesthetic search of not spoiling the original. And that is very, very meritorious.pleasure to move these pieces. This set does not look bad in 5.5 square chessboard, but with 6.0 cm, you can see the beauty of these pieces and their breath on a chess board.Congratulations Royal Ches Mall
My 13th set from Royal Chess Mall. Normally, Im not such a big fan of Soviet styles, but this one is really likeable and the knights & rooks are fantastic. The chunky pawns I need to get used to. This is a very successful replica of the classic [****] Tal chess set, with only minor liberties being taken. The carving is excellent, no defects on any of the 34 pieces. Moderately weighted (King= 62g; Queen= 55g; Bishop= 42g; Knight= 49g; Rook= 45g; Pawn= 38g). The ebonized pieces are deep black, the antiqued boxwood yellowish-brown. The latter adds a slightly garish touch to the set which is fine, because the old Soviet sets are a bit garish, too. Great value for money.
