Received my chess set in record time, and the pieces are even heavier than advertised. The king weighs about 78 grams, the queen 71 grams, the rook 50 grams, and the knight around 60 grams. The quality is amazingโthese pieces are a joy to play with and truly impressive to admire. The craftsmanship really shows.
I had only one small issue: one of the rooks wasnโt stained very well. I emailed customer service, and they responded promptly, checked the issue, and let me know they were sending me a replacement rook right away. Excellent service.
This is the second chess set Iโve purchased from them, and I have no regrets. They take their work seriously and it shows. Highly recommended.
The whole set is incredible, not only for its craftsmanship and quality, but also for its aesthetics and proportions. Just look at the knights! I might disagree a little with calling it a "travel set," as it's more like a new chess set for a new home. Anyway, I loved it

There was indeed slightly darker shade of brown on some of the dark pieces, but if they wouldn't told me, I wouldn't have noticed it.
I tried to find a crack in the pawn that they showed me, but I could not.
So to me it's a perfect chess set.
The weight turned out to be 1760g, which is 60g heavier than declared.
In the pictures I tried my best to do the correct exposure to show how the set is looking with my own eyes in natural daylight.

The burnt orange color of the brawl, pattern contrast beautifully with the black squares, and this lends a rich quality to the chess pieces. It looks particularly stunning with my gold and silver metal Soviet style chess pieces, Very happy with his purchase.

This set is gorgeous. I find myself just looking at it than using it in study. The design looks much more fun than traditional staunton; and i'm sure this will be more fun too in blitz - as it looks sturdy enough to withstand rough play. However, my copy has one White rook that's darker than the rest of the white army, it doesn't stand out, but it's noticeable.
This classy set has all the traditional Staunton hallmarks, the bishops in particular being reminiscent of some 19th century Staunton designs. The ornate knights are what make the set so distinctive, with their artistic carvings and flamboyant manes. That said, their playability isn't affected; they are both comfortable to hold and move easily on the board.
If you're looking for a contemporary Staunton set that's a little bit different, this could be the one.

I bought this board to go with these pieces, also from Royal Chess Mall. A nice match! The board came well packaged without any problems despite a random trip to US Customs. The board is printed but it also has semi-glossy (not shiny glossy) overcoat so I think the print is protected. The edges are nicely done and the back is full green velvet. Very pleased.
The Dubrovnik pieces are both aesthetic and functional; it is easy to see why they have become a timeless classic. The squat design makes even the unweighted pieces difficult to knock over. The mahogany stained ones go very nicely with the 55mm-square rosewood/maple board.
I have noticed comments elsewhere about quality control issues at RCM, but in my experience their craftsmanship is of a consistently very high standard, with painstaking attention to detail. Their customer service too is second to none. Enquiries are dealt with promptly, efficiently and courteously.
In short, if you are looking for high quality chess products backed by speedy and efficient service, RCM is the place to go.
These pieces are very rich in their colors. The boxwood is almost buttery, and the bud Rosewood is a beautiful mahogany color. Very well sculpted, Iโm actually amazed that they could do it this smoothly this exquisitely. And the horses! Over the top amazing. They look like horses who are tossing their heads, which gives them a very active appearance. The quality of the royal chest small pieces has greatly impressed me over and over again. I have about six chess sets right now, lol.
