Set is exactly as advertised...but better. These chess pieces arrived quickly (less than a week from India to USA) and in flawless condition. They are exquisitely hand-crafted and have a nice, hefty feel about them (I ordered weighted pieces). One suggestion: I added copper tape to the bottom of each piece to enable play on my DGT Centaur computerized board. (please see photo sent with this review.). I would have gladly paid Royal Chess Mall a few extra dollars for an electronic board-capable set of pieces. Bravo, RoyalChessMall! I will order a board from you soon! Beautifully Crafted and Perfectly Weighted – A Fantastic Staunton Set

I’m extremely impressed with the quality of this 3.9" Craftsman Staunton chess set. The pieces are beautifully carved, consistent in shape, and feel premium in the hand. The weighted ebonised boxwood gives the dark pieces a rich, elegant look that closely resembles real ebony without the high cost.

The 3.9-inch king height is ideal for standard play, and the pieces balance perfectly on a board with 55–57 mm squares. The weighting is excellent—each piece feels solid and stable, and they glide smoothly thanks to the well‑applied felt bases.

The knight design is especially impressive: detailed, expressive, and true to the classic Staunton style. It’s clear that real craftsmanship went into this set.

Overall, this is a fantastic choice for anyone who wants a high‑quality, tournament‑style set without spending a fortune. It looks great, feels great, and elevates every game. Highly recommended.

I was a little worried about spending a chunk of money on these chess pieces from a vendor half way around the world. My worries disappeared as I received the pieces in just a few days. As I unwrapped the pieces my expectations were exceeded. I found the quality to be superb. You would expect made pieces to show variation from piece to piece, but I was surprised just how hard it was to find differences between the pieces. The set is simply stunning.
