the figurines are excellent, not to mention the quality, they arrived in about twenty days with the Indian post, there is no damage, everything was nicely packed, I recommend buying here
I originally received a package that was damaged in transit (not the sender's fault). Customs drilled into the chess board and pieces in what appears to be an inspection for hidden contraband, damaging the board and destroying several pieces. The courier (FedEx) ghosted me and stopped returning my emails after the initial claim, and to my knowledge did not reimburse the sender for damages. Royal Chess Mall were great at communicating with me throughout the entire ordeal, and ended up sending me a new board and replacement pieces at their expense. I could not be happier with their service and the product. Absolutely beautiful pieces and board, they look amazing in person. They feel great in the hand as well. The board I chose was a 21" Golden Rosewood & Maple, a different wood colour to highlight the pieces. Will 100% do repeat business. Very trustworthy and professional.
Just recieved Slightly Imperfect 1950'S Soviet Latvian Pieces and they are absolutely stunning. Could only find one slight imperfection on the entire set and it is barely noticeable. Very please with this purchase and would definetly order from here again and will recommend company to any one searching for a quality set of pieces.
These pieces are amazing, much recommended. All the pieces are nicely weighted and are really nice to move. I also bought the 55mm (square size) rosewood board and they go good together. The pieces have a good proportional size to the board which makes them a perfect fit for eachother. As all the other reviews say the photos won't make up for what it looks like in person. The black pieces of rosewood are so beautiful but/and look a bit different depending on what light hits them. I realized that sunlight makes these pieces really stand out whilst with worse lighting the look darker and less "veiny"

My second set of Chess Pieces from this Shop and again I'm very impressed from the quality especially for this low price.
This board is stunning! Great quality, well polished, very heavy, very! and padded bottom so it doesn't scratch your table.
- one thing to note is that, the black are not polished black like some of the photo made it look to be. I was a bit disappointed at first but actually it is so much better that the finish is matted rathan than shiny. Some of the blacks are squares seems like it could have used another coat of paint, but again, it's quite perfect being imperfect to show the nature of the wood. You can see the grains so this is stunning.
- The colour combinations of the wooden frame with black and white square makes this combination so versatile. You can use black/white pieces or wood/white pieces and it still matching.
--- love it. Great customer service as well. Well done RCM. Definitely going to buy again.
Very stunning set. It is so much better in real than in the photo. The finishing are really good, very well polished pieces for both the black and the white pieces. The weight are pretty good, not too light in the hand. Coming off a cheaper set from Amazon, this felt sooo good in the hand and just class. Although I would love to try triple weighted set later.
I got the board and box set, the combination are absolutely unreal. Love it!
What more, there was small issue with the knight that the base came apart. They gave a clear instructions to use a glue. They then reimbursed me for the cost of the glue. Great customer service, makes it hard to buy from other suppliers given the quality of the product and great customer service. Well done RCM team. Will buy again from you guys when one of your set gets back in stock.
I had been casually collecting chess sets over the years, albeit cheap, barely playable sets made with coarse design and cheap materials. Recently, I've found my interest in collecting chess sets renewed, but now for the more elegant pieces crafted from finer materials — the sorts of chess sets that one can proudly gift to a younger enthusiast or bequeath as a family heirloom. This Dubrovnik set is no exception, and just the unboxing experience earlier this evening made me feel as though a part of chess history had reached forward from the past to touch me in the present. My hope of acquiring an original 1950 Dubrovnik set are beyond remote, yet having even a facsimile like this set allows me to experience what the original pieces might have felt like (but for the extra weight incorporated in these modern pieces, which is an attribute modern players have come to expect).
I purchased the Mahogany-stained boxwood and Natural boxwood pieces. These pieces are elegant, yet possess a substantial heft which makes them more stable on the chessboard. Their finish is polished to a gleaming satin without any distracting glare. The green felted base pads ensure that as the pieces come down onto a chessboard, no abrasion or other aggressive contact mars either the pieces or the board. I find myself continually admiring the craftsmanship in the knights, which capture just enough realism to be recognised as the iconic horse in appearance without emulating the complex visual nuance of a living horse. The execution of the 1950 Dubrovnik knight was a fine balance of simple geometry for ease of production against the aesthetic demands for a familiar equine profile.
All in all, I would highly recommend this set for anyone whose collection lacks a Dubrovnik representative. Surely not everyone will play it as their go-to set, but I believe that everyone can admire the innovation of the design while still reading it as a Staunton set with a healthy Slavic variation.
