Royal Chess Mall had a quick delivery to US with pieces arriving in perfect condition. All the slender pieces are straight without lean.
Aesthetically, I find the style clean and elegant with expressive knights. I really struggled choosing between this set and Royal Chess Mall's Dubrovnik or Zagreb sets. The knights are perhaps just a touch large for a fall line from the king to rook. When looking at the photos online, I worried that the queen and bishop lack distinction, but viewed in person it isn't a problem. The queen has a noticeably larger presence.
As noted in other reviews, the color of the light pieces is more golden than the toffee shade of other antiqued/distressed sets. I have two 57mm wooded boards, ebony/maple and rosewood/maple. Personally, I like the ebony/maple combo better.

My brown pieces actually look more golden, even a little on the brass side. Perhaps this is a trick of lighting? But I absolutely adore them! They’re very simple slender excellently waited, feel fantastic in the hands, and the austerity just excites me! The horse is very regal and powerful - it has overtones of a lion. Love it.
Admittedly, this is my first "nice" chess set, so I may be biased, but I am floored by the quality of product I received. While the shade of the light pieces was slightly different than what I expected--there are highlights and swirls of bronze that don't quite make it through in the display photographs--I'm not bothered by it at all. In fact, I think I like them more than I initially anticipated! The carving is perfect, every detail immaculate, and the finish is smooth and flawless. Every piece arrived in mint condition.
I highly recommend Royal Chess Mall to anyone interested in perfect chess pieces, and I will absolutely return when I'm ready for my next "nice" set.
I live in the UK; I have bought from Royal Chess Mall on four separate occasions and each time has gone smoothly. A problem with one order was rectified immediately (thank you Manwinder) and I would not hesitate to recommend them or use them again. Overall, excellent service and value for money with interesting range of stock. The Botvinnik Flohr II pieces are beautiful and well made for the money.
Really, really excellent. The only thing is that perhaps the two colors of the pieces lack suficient distinctivity. But I really love them.
A very nice set. Well executed and finished. A lighter hand on the application of the "distress" finish to the White pieces would make this a masterpiece.
