Thank you to the artisans of Amritsar India, who produce the most beautiful of chess sets. I ordered just a chess set; no box or board. Extremely well packaged. Absolutely delighted with mine, and received in the UK in less than a week. Superb craftsmanship!
I noticed that I was missing a "straight" Staunton-style chess set in my favourite wood for black, padauk (= "bud rosewood") and found these elegantly shaped 4" pieces from RCM. I love the slim, elongated shapes of the kings and queens with their broad bases and the expressive knights. The chessmen are nicely weighted (for black: King=70g, Queen=77g, Knight=66g, Rook=66g) and won't tip over even in blitz games. Very nice craftsmanship. Quick, super-safe shipping. Two very minor issues were resolved quickly and without fuss. This isn't my first set from RCM (I own their Mogul Staunton, 1972 Fischer Ebony 3.75", Edinburgh Northern Upright sets, and now this and the 3.9" Zagreb Russian style sets - all lovely) - and it certainly won't be my last.
