"I believe every chess collector should have at least one Chavet." -- A quote which directed me toward a second purchase from Royal Chess Mall.
These French Chavet pieces have taken over as the main choice for long study sessions. I've had them with me everywhere I go over the last few months. Beautiful.
During the first study session with the new pieces, 17th July 2023, I felt inspired to compose. I quickly discovered that 12 squares, occupied by one of each type of chess piece both black and white, could create a big R on the chess board (for Royal Chess Mall). Soon I had the Mate in 3 which you can find in the pictures. Hopefully it is a worthy tribute to the craftsmen responsible for this set.

I own 40+ Chess Sets. Nice little collection. I was showing it off to a Chess Friend of mine, and he liked what he saw, but at the end asked "Where is your French Chavet Set?" I didn't have one. Thanks to my friends at Royal Chess Mall, I have corrected that omission with this beautiful set. The knights are particularly nice. Quickly becoming one of my favorites.
Brilliant quality. I made a burled walnut and birdseye maple chess board that doubles as a side table to house them. The pieces have an excellent weight and I couldn't be happier with them. Thankyou.
Its happens to be the same pieces of Anand vs Kasparov match in 1996 where Kasparov had made the famous blunder to lose the tournament. However really elegant and iconic chess piece to treasure.
I have these pieces displayed on a board with 2.25 inch squares. They have a wonderful weight and feel. With rounded edges, there is no chance of pricking your fingers on the queen's crown. I also appreciate the wide bases and classical look of the pieces, especially the bishops and knights.. I've been looking for this set for years and I am impressed!
Whether it be the French Chavet, the French Lardy, the
Reykjavik or any notable chess pieces in use today, Royal
Chess Mall got it right with the size-3.9" King, not 3.7, or 3.6,
or anything shorter. Chess regulations stipulate that the King
must be at least 3.75" in height, and Royal Chess Mall sends the
message that this specification is to be strictly followed. The
chess world owes Royal Chess Mall a continued and loyal
following among its buyers of chess equipment.
Thank you very much, Royal Chess Mall.

Outstanding chess set. Very well made with great attention to details.
Love these pieces in everyway. The knight is an outstanding carve. All pieces are free of any visible imperfections, they are beautifully weighted and feel great in the hand. The package was shipped fast and the pieces were very professionally packaged to prevent any chance of damage in shipping. I highly recommend RoyalChessMall!
