Fantastisk taske – helt fantastisk

Jeg har et skakbræt på 24 tommer. Efter at have ledt efter et sæt skakbrikker i marmor med en konge på mindst 4 tommer uden held, besluttede jeg mig for at vælge træ. Jeg ville ikke bare have et hvilket som helst almindeligt sæt, jeg ville have noget rigtig flot. Da jeg modtog mine Stanton-brikker fra Royal Chess Mall, var der ingen tvivl om, at jeg havde truffet den rigtige beslutning. Jeg er meget tilfreds.

Fantastiske skakbrikker, smuk elfenbensfarve og patina

Et smukt sæt; én skadet springer ved leveringen, men den blev udskiftet inden for to uger uden problemer. Det er mit tredje luksussæt fra Royal Chess Mall. Der kommer flere.

Jeg er så glad for at have disse brikker – fremragende håndværk, og jeg elsker at røre ved dem, hver gang jeg flytter dem, på grund af deres vægt og balance. De eneste ufuldkommenheder er, at den hvide tårn og en hvid bonde var lidt revnet, men de er blevet repareret og er nu i fin stand. Jeg tror, jeg vil købe endnu et sæt… Jeg kan varmt anbefale dette firma…

Dette skakbræt har en farverig, glat form og er den bedste ledsager til både samling i hjemmet og skakspil. Det skaber naturligvis et langvarigt, fordybende miljø til skakspil. Ved hvert træk i skakspillet kan man mærke den fyldige og rige lyd, når massivt træ støder sammen, hvilket giver en visuel og lydmæssig oplevelse, der er medrivende og virkningsfuld. Dette er det bedste valg både som kunstgenstand og som spilredskab

It’s beautifully made, with excellent detail and a substantial, high-quality feel. The pieces are well weighted, nicely balanced, and very satisfying to play with. The knights in particular are exceptionally well carved and give the set a distinctive character. Overall, it feels like a genuinely premium chess set and offers excellent craftsmanship for the price. The imperfections are indeed slight.

Very beautiful chess pieces. They are well-finished and heavy, ensuring great stability on the board.

Jeg har to sæt, og jeg vil fortsætte med at samle på disse værker – unikke designs og ægte kvalitet. Jeg er glad for at være en del af dette, og jeg takker disse mestre.

Det er anden gang, jeg har købt et sæt fra Royal Chess Mall. Jeg var så tilfreds første gang, at jeg besluttede mig for at købe endnu et – denne gang en Zagreb 3.1-model, som jeg bruger til at øve mig ved mit skrivebord. Det er simpelthen en fryd at røre ved og se på. Et fremragende skakspil – selvom det er lille, er detaljerne smukt udført, og brikkerne har en dejlig tyngde. Det ankom til tiden og i fremragende stand. Jeg er taknemmelig for, at RCM lægger så stor omhu i deres arbejde.

En ting, der adskiller dette Calvert-sæt fra mine andre skakspil, er, at det tager mig tilbage i tiden, helt tilbage til de gamle mestre som DeLabourdonnais, Morphy, Staunton osv. Designet er fremragende, og vægten er fantastisk. Brikkerne i sig selv er meget stabile. Først troede jeg, at jeg bare ville udstille det som en slags kunstgenstand, men nu nyder jeg at spille med det. Faktisk er dets jomfrukamp den berømte McDonnel – LaBourdonnais-kamp fra 1834. Forestil dig at spille de partier om – med et skakspil fra 1834!

Et smukt sæt med en eksklusiv fornemmelse – Fischer løj ikke, da han sagde, at det er en fornøjelse at spille med dem! De glider smukt hen over brættet. Håndværket er fantastisk; eventuelle »ufuldkommenheder« er ubetydelige og giver snarere brikkerne karakter. Sættet var pakket utroligt pænt, med hver brik indpakket enkeltvis, samt en ekstra dronning i hver farve til forfremmelser. Jeg bruger et bræt med 55 mm store felter, og brikkerne passer perfekt; de kan flyttes smidigt uden at støde ind i hinanden. Kan varmt anbefales!

Royal Chess Mall’s chess pieces are beautiful in person - every bit as much as their photographs and more. To hold these and move them about the chess board is a pleasure. I have a board with 2” squares and it is a perfect match for this 3.8” king size. Shipping was good to Arizona (US). Customer service was excellent and very responsive. Thank you!

First, it was really well packed and received 2 days earlier than expected.
I could hardly find the imperfection, it was on a pawn, and really minor.
That said, the white pièces which are antique lacquered are really really nice on the white squares and also on the black ones, they really pop.
They capture the light so well and reflect it.
The black pieces are like stone, very solid, mat finish, a bit shiny when cleaning them, a very mineral feeling,

Denne skakbrik har en smuk glans, føles fantastisk at røre ved og har en perfekt vægt. Det er et fremragende produkt til at spille skak med eller som boligindretning. Samtidig er jeg meget taknemmelig for jeres hjælp under toldbehandlingen, da jeg købte den. Tak.

Et fantastisk sæt af det klassiske Staunton-sæt. Brikkerne føles solide i hånden, og det er en fornøjelse at spille med dem. Finishen er af meget høj kvalitet, selv med de små, charmerende uregelmæssigheder, man kan se, hvis man kigger nærmere efter – men det er netop det, der giver denne slags håndlavede brikker deres sjæl.

A lovely set, obviously Staunton-inspired, but with a number of differences, notably the knights and the king's finial. I was initially unsure of the flamboyant knights, but they are easy to move and not too difficult to handle, while the finial is very delicately done. In my opinion, though, the real stars are the rooks - solid and sturdy, and well-weighted like all the other pieces.
The bud rosewood is a stunning reddish-brown, and very pleasing on the eye. The standard of craftsmanship is quite exquisite.
The set I bought was 'slightly imperfect'. I spent quite a while trying to spot the slight imperfection, but all I could find were some rough edges on the felt, easily remedied by a couple of minutes with nail scissors!
It speaks volumes for RCM's quality control standards that they consider a virtually perfect set 'imperfect'.

I bought this travel chess set as a keepsake for my recently deceased father, almost as if it were a final gift from him, as his passing occurred just a few days before my birthday.
I was looking for a functional chess set that I could easily take with me anywhere. I was immediately attracted by the photos of this model on the Royal Chess Mail website, after hesitating between it and their folding travel chess sets. What appealed to me here was the complete box, which closes securely, as well as the drawers for storing the pieces. This avoids having to store the pieces inside the board itself, as is the case with folding travel sets.
You can also play or replay games from books or annotated collections by placing the pieces along the edges of the board or on the top section of the box. It is genuinely practical.
The pieces have a classic Staunton design, with bishops featuring an almost vertical slit. The proportions between the pieces are perfect, with a special mention for the knights, which are particularly well crafted. This is quite rare with pieces of this size, and even more so for a travel set.
The case is beautiful, both open and closed. It would look perfectly at home on a desk, for example. It is fairly substantial and quite heavy, so carrying it around every day in its current form may not be ideal. However, Royal Chess Mail also provides a small pouch for storing the pieces. I think I will look for a protective sleeve for the board so that I can safely carry it in a backpack or briefcase.
I think this format is actually perfect for travelling: a single, non-folding piece, ideal for placing on a train or airplane tray table, even if it sticks out slightly. In my opinion, it is more practical than a folding travel chessboard.
The woods used are of very high quality. The golden rosewood used for the pieces is beautiful, with a lovely combination of light and dark grain. The chessboard has a matte finish, which does pick up fingerprints a little, but it cleans easily with a soft cloth.
The colours of the squares are perfectly harmonious with the pieces: neither too dark nor too light, with no visual fatigue or distracting contrast when playing or reading a position.
The pieces slide nicely across the board when you want to move quickly, replay variations or work on openings, for example. The pieces are magnetic and stay firmly in place, but the magnets are just the right strength. They are not excessively strong, as is often the case with magnetic chess sets. Here, you never have any difficulty lifting a piece from its square because of the magnet.
In fact, the Royal Chess Mail team has got the balance absolutely right. You could almost think that the pieces are slightly weighted. This is the first time I have experienced this with a magnetic chess set, and it makes the set particularly pleasant to use.
The proportions of the pieces relative to the squares are perfect — as you can see in the photos with four pawns on a single square, or the rook lying down on the board. If I were to be extremely picky, perhaps the King’s base takes up just a little too much space on its square. But in actual use, this is not an issue, and the proportions remain perfectly logical in relation to the other pieces.
This set has a very high symbolic value for me because it was, in a way, my father’s final “gift”. It fits perfectly into my collection, and not only as a travel set. I have to admit that its practical storage and its ability to sit neatly on my desk mean that it sometimes replaces my traditional size 5 or 6 sets when I want to replay historical games or work on my chess.
Now I just need to find a beautiful carrying case or a small attaché case for the chessboard to make it easier to transport.
What a beautiful set created by Royal Chess Mail, exactly in keeping with its minimalist name and elegant gift edition. It is a magnificent object that will appeal to anyone who appreciates beautiful chess sets and beautifully crafted pieces.
I had already loved Royal Chess Mail’s unweighted Dubrovnik set with the folding chessboard case, and once again I am extremely satisfied with my purchase.
And I almost forgot to mention the excellent packaging: everything was very well protected, and the shipping and delivery were both fast. Their chat service is also excellent, with consistently quick responses and very good advice.
One final suggestion: if I were to make another purchase from Royal Chess Mail right now, it would be incredible if the team created a small-format travel set featuring the Dubrovnik-style pieces.

Fantastiske Fiskene

Perfect handmade chess board. High quality finishes, no sharp edges or between squares, and all joints are polished. The surface is a little shiny but perfect to play.
Shipment package is very good protecting the board properly. Foam is placed along the edges and on both faces.
I asked them to stick a fragile sticker to avoid problems during transport (by plane, by truck,...), this trick usually works quite well.
Communication with the company was perfect, answering very fast and solving the doubts.

Beautifully made pieces, crafted with attention to detail and whose antique effect captures the spirit of the 19th century. They are solid and sturdy, perhaps not ideal for playing blitz, but they were probably never intended for that 180 years ago! My pieces were 'slightly imperfect', but close inspection revealed only a very minor mark (about 1mm in size!) on the white king's crown and on the underside of a black piece, not the sort of blemishes you would notice unless you were an obsessive stickler for detail, in other words nothing to worry about.
Som altid ankom brikkerne hurtigt og i en uopslidelig emballage.
