21“ Drueke Style Goldenes Palisanderholz & Ahorn Holz Schachbrett - 55 mm Quadrat - Matte Oberfläche

A beautiful understated 21 inch battleground with 55mm squares providing plenty of room and perspective for assessing engagements. I like the angled design with intersecting grooves. The golden rosewood harmonizes with my Zadar Chess pieces. The maple of the board also goes well with the boxwood of the pieces.

Manufacturing quality is good, especially the top of the board is flawless(4 stars), the sides of all border have wood imperfections and small scratches, and scuff marks or where the wood has received uneven sanding(-1 star). I have included photos. Overall, still very happy with the board as wood is a natural product and manufacturing is not perfect. The matt look is a great feature compared to a high gloss surface that can be distracting. In my view the board should be understated and not detract from the pieces. Let the battle begin, no prisoners ….
