Ho acquistato questa scacchiera da 16 pollici in noce e acero con finitura opaca insieme alle pedine Staunton da torneo in palissandro dorato da 2,8 pollici di Royal Chess Mall, e le proporzioni sono eccellenti. Le caselle da 40 mm si abbinano perfettamente ai pezzi Staunton compatti, lasciando spazio sufficiente per giocare comodamente pur mantenendo l’ingombro ridotto del set. La scacchiera è ben stabile, presenta una piacevole finitura opaca che riduce al minimo i riflessi e la combinazione di colori tra noce e acero è elegante.

Ho due piccole osservazioni per i futuri acquirenti. Innanzitutto, la mia scacchiera presenta alcune minuscole macchie nere di inchiostro su alcune caselle chiare. Si notano solo osservandole da vicino e sono invisibili durante il normale gioco, quindi non compromettono il mio divertimento con la scacchiera. In secondo luogo, il retro della mia scacchiera è beige anziché verde come mostrato nelle foto del prodotto relative alla versione da 16”. In realtà il beige non mi dispiace, ma vale la pena sottolineare che il colore del retro potrebbe variare rispetto a quello delle foto.

Nel complesso, sono molto soddisfatto di questo acquisto. Si abbina magnificamente ai pezzi Staunton compatti, sta benissimo su una scrivania o su un tavolino da caffè e lo consiglio vivamente.

The Alexandria Luxury Staunton pieces in Ebony and Bud Rosewood are another work of art from Royal Chess Mall. The design and craftsmanship are amazing up close. The incredible detailing on the Knights themselves makes this set stand above all the others. I'm a big fan of the Ebony and Bud Rosewood combination, I think they are stunning next to each other.

Una scacchiera davvero splendida, perfetta per i set da biblioteca o per i set “king” da 3" — io la possiedo insieme al set Ayres, e la scacchiera è un'opera d'arte.

L'ho comprato soprattutto perché ero stanco di sistemare e riporre la scacchiera ogni volta che volevo giocare. Avere un tavolo dedicato ha fatto una differenza maggiore di quanto mi aspettassi. L'altezza è comoda e i cassetti sono pratici per riporre i pezzi fuori dalla vista quando non li uso.

I pezzi hanno un buon peso e il tavolo sembra abbastanza solido da non farmi temere che traballi durante le partite. Inoltre sta bene nella stanza senza risultare eccessivamente decorativo. Lo uso un paio di volte alla settimana da quando è arrivato e sono soddisfatto dell'acquisto.

I pezzi sono realizzati con grande cura e l'abbinamento tra il palissandro dorato e il bosso si rivela davvero azzeccato per questo set. Il peso dei pezzi rende il gioco molto piacevole. Un set di scacchi assolutamente consigliato!

Una scacchiera davvero graziosa, perfetta sia con i pezzi bianchi e neri, come nella foto, sia con quelli in stile antico. La superficie presenta una finitura opaca lucida che permette ai pezzi di scivolare agevolmente. È arrivata in tempi rapidi in un imballaggio indistruttibile. Consigliata.

I bought the Alexandria burnt set and the Queens Gambit set but this Marengo set is a level higher. What a peace of art especially the carving of the knights. Wauw. Costruito come un mobile, ma utilizzabile come un vero tavolo da torneo. Il tavolo risulta robusto e comodo anche durante le partite più lunghe, e i cassetti sono davvero utili per riporre ordinatamente i pezzi. Insomma, un ottimo acquisto!

This is my second set from Royal Chess Mall, and both have shown excellent craftsmanship and value compared to other merchants. I will continue to shop from RCM when looking for wooden pieces.

I think this set actually looks amazing on my standard green and white roll up tournament board! It is my preferred set to travel with if I am playing slower time controls. With the knights lacking protruding ears or manes and and the kings having rounded finials, the set is robust enough to travel with if I don't except really rough play (I'd still take a plastic set for blitz play). YT chess reviewer Al Su feels the same way.

I did have a pawn crack sometime in the first few weeks, but RCM stood by their warranty and rapidly replied to my email. It did take a few weeks for the piece to ship so I suppose the piece had to be manufactured, but I am happily playing with a complete now.

A nice decorative piece to the family room

I’m really happy with 1950s Fischer Dubrovnik set. The pieces look great on the board and have a nice feel in hand. Every piece was individually wrapped and the delivery was fast. Overall a very good experience.

After seeing the great serie “The Queens Gambit” I knew a had to have this set in the best possible quality.

I'm very pleased with this chess set. It lives on display in our lounge and looks stunning. The craftsmanship is exceptional, the fine carving on the knights a particular highlight, and the extra details on the pieces add style without detracting from play. The ebony is beautiful and the finish is superb. It's a good size and the weighted pieces are a delight to handle. I got it with 25% off, which made it incredible value, but it would certainly be worth the full price. The fast, free shipping and responsive customer service also made everything easy and kept the cost down. Very much recommended.

I bought this storage box mainly for my tournament sets, including a 4.1" Pro Staunton and a 3.9" German Knight set, and I was honestly surprised by how well it fits them. Even though the box is advertised for chess pieces up to 3.7" king height, both of my larger sets fit perfectly without any issues. For reference, my 3.9" German Knight king has a 1.4" base and my 4.1" Pro Staunton king has a much wider 1.9" base, and the box still accommodates both comfortably with no pressure when closing the lid. Even with the extra promotion queens included, there’s still enough space to store everything neatly.

The interior is lined with a soft green felt that does a great job protecting the pieces, especially the ebonised black ones which can be prone to marks. The divider inside is also really practical, keeping the white and black pieces separated and making setup quicker.

One thing that really stands out is how solid the box feels. The outer shell is very rigid and hard, giving it a strong, durable feel that inspires confidence when storing or moving your pieces. It doesn’t feel flimsy at all, and it holds its shape well even when filled with heavier, weighted chessmen.

Overall, this is a very practical and reliable storage solution. It exceeded my expectations in terms of capacity and build quality, especially given that it handled larger tournament sets with ease. If you’re worried about fitting bigger pieces, this box should still work just fine.

Les pièces sont arrivées en France en seulement 6 jours: bravo! Elles sont exactement comme sur les photos, donc superbes. Je les ai installées sur le plateau commandé en même temps (Échiquier de luxe en bois d'ébène et d'érable de 21 pouces, magnifique également), c'est juste parfait. Après avoir hésité très longtemps à cause de la distance et parce que je ne savais pas si ce vendeur était sérieux, je me suis fié aux avis (sur Trustpilot notamment) et je ne regrette pas. Je renouvellerai l'expérience prochainement ;-)
